What are Tokyo maze puzzle games?

A Tokyo maze puzzle game is a game in which the objective is to move a square from a starting position through a map to the goal.

A Tokyo maze puzzle game consist of a set of levels.

Every level contains a map of tiles on which different types of actors are placed.

For some level there is a limitation of the number of steps the player can make to reach the exit.

Tiles

The map of a Tokyo level consist of a grid of tiles.

There are 14 types of tiles:

  • Void - The absence of a tile. The player can not move into a void.

  • Floor - A type of tile that the player can stand on.

  • Open barriers - A type of tile that the player stand on. Exactly like Floor. Can change into a closed barrier of the same colour.

  • Closed barriers - A type of tile that the player can not stand on. Can change into a open barrier of the same colour.

  • Button - If the player step into a button, all the barriers of the same colour as the button will change from open into closed and vice versa.

Actors

There are two types of actors available to put into a Tokyo level:

  • Player - The blue diamond that the player of the games controls via the arrow keys.

  • Exit - To clear a level the player must move into the exit.
